Spelling rules in building Present Perfect Progressive Tense.

Verbs ending with -e make I have been making
write I have been writing
drive I have been driving
Verbs ending with -ee agree I have been agreeing
see I have been seeing
Verbs ending with a consonant preceded by a vowel,
double their consonant
hit I have been hitting
let I have been letting
put I have been putting
run I have been running
sit I have been sitting
Two-syllable verbs:
the last consonant is doubled when the last syllable is stressed
forget forgetting
prefer preferring
upset upsetting
