Tak jak w każdym języku, również w języku angielskim synonimy stanowią bardzo dużą część słownictwa. Znajomość synonimów może bardzo często okazać się bardzo pomocna w posługiwaniu się językiem obcym. W sytuacji, gdy brakuje nam określonego słowa, jesteśmy wówczas wstanie użyć inny wyraz o tym samym lub bardzo zbliżonym znaczeniu.
